Following the judgement of the Appeal Court upholding the suspension of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, the party has announced a replacement.
The APC announced on its official Twitter handle that former Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is not the Acting National Chairman of the party.
Ajimobi is the National Deputy Chairman of the APC from the South.
Recall that news broke out on Monday that Ajimobi slipped into coma as a result of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC said it received the news indicating the Appeal Court has upheld the suspension of Oshiomhole by an Abuja High Court, pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Issa-Onilu said the NWC, guided by advice from the Party’s legal department, in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, decided to appoint Ajimobi as the APC Acting National Chairman.
He added that Section 14.2. (iii) of the APC constitution, stipulates that “the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”.
