2027: Kwankwaso Will Run For President Under Our Party – NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has debunked rumours suggesting that its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. The party described such reports as politically motivated falsehoods being circulated by mischief-makers to cause confusion within the opposition camp.

Speaking on the matter, the NNPP’s National Vice Chairman (South-East), Prince Nweze Onu, stated that the party remains united behind Kwankwaso and reaffirmed that he is fully prepared to run for president under the NNPP platform in 2027. He blamed the false reports on artificial intelligence tools and online propaganda being used to mislead the public. “Kwankwaso is not going anywhere; he remains our leader and our candidate for 2027,” Onu declared.

Also reacting, Kano State NNPP Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, dismissed the defection claims as baseless, reiterating that the former Kano governor has no intention of joining the APC. He warned that spreading such fabrications was a strategy by opponents to weaken the NNPP ahead of the next general election, but assured that the party is “reorganising and getting stronger.”
